Dr. Sharpe & Steffani climb into the West End nest on Catalina Island to put the two chicks back after banding, drawing blood samples to determine gender & contamination levels, measuring and attaching identication bands to their legs and wings, and a transmitter to their back. Their parents will finish caring for them until they fledge in approximately 3-4 weeks. These eaglets are part of the ongoing restoration project by IWS. You can read about the struggle to reintroduce America's symbol, the Bald Eagle, to the Channel Islands as well as watch this miracle of nature via live eagle-cam by going to www.iws.org and clicking first on 'interactive' and then choosing one of the nests to view on Catalina Island and Santa Cruz Island or go to z7.invisionfree.com
